Historian and best-selling author Rutger Bregman comes to Stanford GSB on Tuesday, Nov 11th, for a CASI-hosted event tied to his 2025 BBC Reith Lectures, “Moral Revolution.” Bregman’s series explores how bold, moral movements can inspire today’s leaders to reject complacency and rebuild trust in public life. Join us for an in-depth discussion on what real moral revolution looks like in markets, government, and culture, and how practical reforms can follow.

This event is in-person only and open to the public. A recording will be available later this year on the BBC World Service and BBC Radio 4.

Rutger Bregman is a Dutch historian and author of Utopia for Realists and Humankind, whose books have been translated into 46 languages and sold over two million copies. His TED Talk, “Poverty Isn’t a Lack of Character; It’s a Lack of Cash,” was selected among TED Curator Chris Anderson’s Top 10 Talks of 2017. He has been described by The Guardian as “the Dutch wunderkind of new ideas” and by TED as “one of Europe’s most prominent young thinkers.”
